Colorado Healthcare Communicators (CHC) board members are volunteers who work within or provide services to Colorado’s healthcare communications community. Executive board positions are nominated and voted on annually by the membership.
In addition to our board, CHC has opportunities to volunteer throughout the year on committees such as our Gold Leaf Award committee.

Ross Bruno, Hellman
Ross Bruno began his healthcare marketing career with medical device and critical access hospitals, and has enjoyed the challenge of every moment of it. Working within advertising agencies over the past 10+ years, Ross has worked with healthcare campuses ranging in sizes from 17-beds to 2,200 registered beds. He also remains active within industry organizations. At the present time, he recently ended his term as board President of the Iowa Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (ISHMPR), is currently on the 2012 SHSMD Environmental Sustainability Task Force, and was recently asked to join the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee. In 2008, he was chosen as one of 25 marketing professionals interviewed by Pharmaceutical Executive magazine for their Agency Confidential special issue. Ross grew up in Colorado and began his career here, being named one of the 2004 Denver Business Journal’s Top Forty Under 40, before leaving Colorado. In 2011, he returned to Colorado with the expansion of Hellman Associates, Inc., a 46-year old marketing firm based in the Midwest. He is glad to be back and is impressed with how Colorado healthcare marketing efforts have evolved in his absence. He is looking forward to rejoining the ranks of healthcare professionals through CHC.
Cari Frank, CIVHC | Center for Improving Value in Health Care
Cari joined CHC’s board in 2014 as Vice President with nearly 20 years of experience in the health care industry in Colorado. She is currently the Director of Communications and Marketing for Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC). In her role with CIVHC, Cari works with her team and leadership to develop and implement strategic communication, marketing and outreach efforts to heighten awareness and fulfill CIVHC’s mission to support advancing the Triple Aim. Previous to her work with CIVHC, Cari led communications, policy and advocacy, and new program development efforts as Director of Communications and Development at the Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC). Prior to her tenure at CRHC, Cari worked for seven years with the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care (now Telligen), where she helped hospitals and other health care providers to improve patient safety and save lives. While on CFMC’s communication team, Cari provided graphic design services and developed social marketing campaigns promoting preventive care and provider quality improvement. Ms. Frank is passionate about improving health and health care. She holds a pre-med bachelor of arts degree in Biology from Colorado College, and has an MBA in Marketing.

Sandi Neuman, Vision Graphics, Inc.
Sandi Neuman has over 35 years of experience in the printing and marketing industry in both the commercial and non-profit sector. She co-owned Viking LithoGraphics in Phoenix, Arizona for 16 years where she served companies such as U-Haul International, Blue Cross Blue Shield and PCS Prescription Services. From 2005-2013 Ms. Neuman served as the executive of Printing Industries of Arizona, a 280 member-based non-profit trade organization and foundation. In her tenure, she oversaw budgeting, event planning, securing sponsors and membership activities. In addition, she managed a number of committees that developed value added member services and was responsible for board development across three states. Ms. Neuman currently works for Vision Graphics, Inc, where she develops and builds B2B client partnerships. She is member of CSAE, BMA Colorado where she serves on the welcome committee, and she also serves on the board of a nonprofit in Phoenix that provides meaningful work for those who have Epilepsy and other physical challenges. When not working, Ms. Neuman enjoys travelling, scuba diving, skiing, golfing, hiking and spending time with her daughter who is attending college.
Kelli Christensen, Denver Health
Kelli Christensen joined Denver Health in 2014 as a media relations strategist. In her role, she manages day to day media relations on behalf of the hospital and affiliated departments, directs marketing activities on behalf of the Denver Health Paramedic Division and contributes to other communications initiatives.Kelli has an extensive background in public relations and marketing and began her career working in the public relations agency business, with both Edelman and Golin/Harris. She has worked in healthcare since 2007, first with Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and then with Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver. Kelli is also an exercise physiologist and has clinical experience working with heart patients in the hospital setting.She has a BA in Communication from Purdue University and an MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition, Kelli is a registered yoga teacher and a competitive triathlete.
Maria Smth, MyLifeLine.org
Maria Smith is currently the Senior Director, Marketing and Corporate Development with MyLifeLine.org Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that connects cancer patients with their support community of family and friends through free personal websites. In this position, Maria focuses on media relations, building national awareness for the organization, the annual fundraising derby event and golf tournament and pharmaceutical and industry specific partnerships and grants. Previously, she was with the Cancer Support Community in Washington, DC as the Communications and Events Manager. Maria earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Elon University and graduated with her Master’s degree in Strategic Communications from American University with Magna Cum Laude honors. She lives in Denver and in her free time enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, traveling and spending time with her golden retriever, Lee.
Margo Christenson, Centura Health Physician Group
Margo is currently the internal communications specialist at Centura Health Physician Group, a multi-specialty medical group with locations across Colorado and western Kansas. In her role, Margo is responsible for internal newsletters, communications and graphic design. Previously, she served as the Marketing & Outreach Manager at MyLifeLine Cancer Foundation based in Denver, CO, where she oversaw social media and email marketing efforts and managed annual fundraising events. Margo earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Minnesota State University, Moorhead with Summa Cum Laude honors.
Robin Powers, OneTouchPoint
As account manager at FuseCreates Robin provides a variety of marketing services including graphic and web design, print, social media and online marketing, and campaign management. Over her career she has consulted with hundreds of businesses, the majority of which focus on education, health and nonprofit endeavors. Work aside, Robin served as an editor and marketing chair for a dance club and recently completed her fifth year as vice president of a 501(c)(3) which annually hosts a four-day educational and competitive dance event attracting national and international participants. Other interests include research and public policy topics covering nutrition, exercise and health. She holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Katie Bayne, Center for Health Progress
Katie joined CHCs board in December 2016 as the Membership Co-Chair. Katie has long had a passion in communication around social justice issues, and has been applying her skills in this area to help effect real change in the health care sector as the Development & Communications Specialist at the Center for Health Progress (formerly Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved). She earned her bachelor’s in communication studies and French from Niagara University and a master’s in international and intercultural communication from the University of Denver. She believes in using effective, culturally sensitive communication to help educate, engage, and connect with her fellow Coloradans on important health care issues.
Julia Mulhern, Sky Ridge Medical Center
I’ve spent the past six years working in Marketing and Advertising in the healthcare industry in Denver, including working for Centura Health, SCL Health and now Sky Ridge Medical Center. I’m experienced in the development, management and implementation of traditional and non-traditional marketing, advertising and digital campaigns. Skilled at client service management with an unparalleled approach to organization and detail. Mannat Singh, Health Care Consultant
Mannat joined CHCs board in December of 2015 as the Programs Co-Chair. She holds a Master of Public Administration and nonprofit management from University of Colorado, and focused her graduate research work on health policy and nonprofit advocacy. After completing her graduate education, she worked at the Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) in the policy department, creating statewide campaigns, supporting the communications department, conducting research, planning major conferences, and writing white paper research reports on a variety of topics relating to statewide healthcare issues. Since leaving CIVHC Mannat has been providing services as an independent Health Care Strategy, Programs, and Policy Consultant to organizations and health systems regionally and nationally. As a consultant Mannat provides strategic analysis, research and report writing, conference and event management, facilitation services, document production and design services, grant writing/administration/evaluation, social media presence development and management, content auditing, strategic planning, and recommendations for outreach and advocacy. Having spent the majority of her educational and professional career in nonprofit health care, Mannat has a personal passion and energy for promoting programs and organizations aimed at improving health care.

Cara Welch, Colorado Hospital Association
Cara joined the CHC board in 2017 as the Gold Leaf Co-Chair. She has worked as the Director of Communications at the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) for the past two years, managing member communications, media relations, web marketing and event coordination. Prior to joining CHA, Cara worked as the Marketing Manager at Rose Medical Center in Denver for nearly seven years. In that role, she oversaw marketing, internal and external communications, community relations, crisis communications and event management for the hospital. Cara also worked at Schenkein Public Relations for about five years, managing PR for clients in a broad variety of industries. Cara has an MBA from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication from the University of Wyoming.

An enthusiastic and forward-thinking marketing professional, Jordan has more than 13 years of experience in healthcare communications. She is currently the Media Relations Director for Evolution Communications Agency and the owner of Cultiv8 Communications. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Communications from Suffolk University, Jordan began her career in public relations at a healthcare marketing firm in Boston where she worked with healthcare IT innovators, such as athenahealth and McKesson. In recent years, Jordan has taken a significant interest in online media strategies and works with brands to explore and identify ways to effectively integrate social media into business strategies and marketing campaigns. In her spare time, Jordan gives back to the community by providing pro bono public relations to Denver area nonprofits, such as Firefly Autism and Garden, Inc.

Rachel Linn, Center for Improving Value in Health Care
Rachel Linn joined the CHC Board in December of 2016 as the Business Development Co-Chair and is currently the Marketing and Product Manager at the Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC). Throughout her career, Rachel has become skilled at executing organizational strategy through visual and interactive communications mediums. She has helped lead rebranding efforts, assessed and redesigned multiple websites for navigability and enhanced user experience, and developed new marketing collateral for each organization she has been a part of. Her background in layout design and planning are some of the many tools she utilizes in her new role managing the development of new data analytics products at CIVHC. Rachel is currently enhancing her skills in html and css programming at Galvanize, and holds a bachelors of communications with an emphasis on organizational and strategic planning from The University of Colorado.
